Contactivity is a unique and practical therapeutic approach for treating avoidance and states of disconnection. We developed this method after years of working with hundreds of avoidant and disconnected young people. Slowly a multidimensional model came into being, focusing on facilitating connection, motivation, and the courage to meet the challenges facing young people today.

The Contactivity training program provides therapists and educators the necessary skills, knowledge and practical tools to assist young people suffering from avoidance, detachment and withdrawal. In the course of the training, participants acquire a deep understanding of the emotional and systemic dynamics that maintain and accelerate avoidance. We will also learn ways to lead the young person and his family out of these dynamics, including effective interventions for working with the avoidant person, his parents and school personal.

In the program we will learn:

  • How to communicate with avoiders who do not talk
  • How does technology and culture intensify situations of avoidance
  • Knowledge of the three levels of avoidance (self, other, group)
  • Effective tools for helping the avoidant person reconnect with himself
  • Ways to motivate the avoidant person
  • How to use video games as means for connecting
  • The loss of meaning and ways to regain it
  • The importance of regulating the emotion of shame in situations of avoidance
  • How to help a person who avoids connect with his body
  • How to help an avoidant person overcome discomfort and anxiety
  • Ways for creating a connected parental presence in situations of avoidance
  • Ways to use computer games as a therapeutic tool
  • How to help the avoidant person feel comfortable within groups
  • Effective tools to deal with school refusal
